I’ve always been captivated by the frozen beauty of Alaska, the Arctic, and the pristine stillness of ice and snow. One of my all-time favourite documentaries, The Last Alaskans, truly brought this to life for me. The series follows the lives of a few families living in the remote Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. It beautifully showcases their resilience, connection to nature and the challenges of surviving in one of the last untouched wildernesses on Earth.

Its stunning music paired perfectly with the breathtaking Arctic landscapes, weaving together endless, expansive soundscapes that matched the grandeur of the untouched wilderness.

Inspired by the music and visuals of The Last Alaskans and its epic Arctic scenes, I’m thrilled to introduce Glacium – Arctic Soundscapes. This collection was created for the free Soundbox player, designed to immerse you in the beauty and mystery of frozen worlds.

To enhance the icy atmosphere even further, Glacium includes a selection of meticulously recorded sound effects, such as the crunch of walking in snow, the creak of moving ice, and the howling of extreme cold winds. Captured during a recent heavy snowstorm, these authentic sounds add an extra layer of realism and depth, bringing the frozen world to life in your compositions.

While creating Glacium, I surrounded myself with Arctic imagery and played scenes from The Last Alaskans and other polar documentaries. This gave me the opportunity to feel the sounds come alive alongside the visuals, making each soundscape rich, evocative, and full of character.
